Women do great things, too

May 10, 2007 · 2 Comments

I recently read Tara’s rant (a rightful one) about how she was left out of a business week article about an event she was the lead for. After reading Tara’s post on this, I was pretty upset about it myself. She has done amazing things both in the tech world and in the marketing world and is a great foster of all things community. Before I got the chance to say much on the matter, however, Chris Messina, who was also on the project, was awesome enough to pipe up about it and not let it go un-noticed.

I actually find this a bit ironic, too, given the recent topic about women speaking at conferences over on CK’s blog. Perhaps the discredit that is suffered by those women that do speak is in part what causes them to slow their pursuit of such opportunities?

Thank you for this. I’m sorry how Tara was left out of the article and the imbalance of men-to-women at speaking events indeed perplexes me. Readers have been great to weigh-in with many opinions on the matter but it appears many agree, change is needed.

I look forward to publishing more on this. (and thank you for reading my blog).
